Stones and Shells by Marja Van Kampen

Making a long anticipated comeback in 2002, Impressions 8/2002 print
competition and exhibition will be opened in Galway Arts Centre on Friday 6
September by renowned printmaker, Norman Ackroyd.
Impressions was first held during the Galway Arts Festival in 1989 and
continued as an annual event for 7 years. Unfortunately due to lack of
funds, Impressions ceased until this year, when Galway Arts Centre
rejuvenated this worthy event. A nation-wide call for entries went out in
May 2002 resulted in an unprecedented response, with over 150 prints from
distinguished printmakers as well as recent graduates from art school,
pouring into Galway Arts Centre.
Opening hours 10am-6pm Monday to
Saturday. Admission free.

Clarenbridge Oyster Festival
13th - 15th September
-
The festival takes place every September at the opening of the Oyster
season. Although much as changed since 34 people attended the very first
festival in 1954, its heart remains the same. It is now established as one
of Ireland's leading social events. While retaining its Galway roots it is
very much an international festival with visitors and participants coming
from every corner of the globe.
