ReligionIreland is a country where a high percentage of the population attend a religious service on a weekly basis. It's a society where the Christianity of the people is enshrined in the States Constitution. In Ireland the vast majority of the people are Catholic and the country has one of the highest rates of weekly Mass attendance in Europe. The church remains important in people's lives. In Galway the Cathedral which was opened in 1965 dominates the city skyline symbolising that it retains an influential role in the life of Galway people. |
