Post Offices

The Post office in Ireland serves as both a state run financial institution and a mail sorting and distribution centre. In recent times the post office has also become a payment centre for those in receipt of social welfare.

Stamps, lottery tickets, voice mail cassettes and Post Office boxes can also be purchased here.

You can also avail of schemes such as tax free savings which are ideal for educational planning, or the tax free lump sum investment plan which offers a high return for your investment.

Other financial services availabe include a free bill payment service, a money transmission service and a Bureau de Change.

The main post office in Galway is located on Eglinton Street (Moons Department store is on the corner).

Its open six days, Monday to Saturdays 9am-5.30pm, except on Wednesdays when it opens at 9.30am.
The Suburban offices close on Saturdays at 1pm.
