Operation Táisteal May Bank Holiday Weekend

Operation Táisteal May Bank Holiday Weekend

This May bank holiday weekend An Garda Síochána are mounting a national road safety campaign: "Operation Taisteal". The operation will run from mid-night on Thursday 1st May, to mid-night on Monday 5th May.

The campaign will focus on road safety with particular emphasis on the following offences:

  • Speeding

  • Drink driving

  • Non-wearing of seatbelts

  • Driving behaviour of young male drivers

Garda enforcement activities will be visible on all the road networks with particular emphasis on collision prone locations.

During the May Bank Holiday period last year, 3 people were killed on Irish roads and over 119 injured.

Motorists are reminded to drive carefully, at the appropriate speed, and ensure that all drivers and occupants wear their seat belts on all journeys.
