O'Flaherty, after combating the assertions of Ptolemy as to the tribes
summed up by him, says, that the river was never known by the name of
Ausoba, or Ausona, but the name Gallimh, "from
which," he adds, Galway, a celebrated town, the capital of Connaught,
situate at the mouth of it, has taken its name" --- Ogyg.
