Photo of the Week, 23 Aug 2004 Saturday, 21 Aug, 2004. A member of the Connacht tag rugby team threads a thin line through fierce Aussie defenses during an exhibition match between the Irish and Australian Tag Rugby associations held at the Galway Corinthians Rugby Club Grounds. For the local lads, it was a learning experience. They were soundly defeated by the Aussie team in Galway last weekend as part of a two week tour of Ireland to help promote the sport. Tag Rugby is billed as one of Ireland’s fastest growing sports, with over 6,000 players this year participating in men’s, women’s and mixed leagues. Photographer: Todd Parker. |
