OPW
The OPW has responsibility for a number of public areas including the following. Architectural Offices which essentially means this body is responsible for the maintenance of state buildings. Drainage. The OPW deals with any problems relating to drainage on the national waterways. The Corrib Maintenance Sluice House can be reached at +353 91 563097.
Harbours, Shannon Navigation, the maintenance and upkeep of canals all fall within the ambit of the Office of Public Works.
The Office is also responsible for the maintenance of certain public park areas such as Connemara National Park in Letterfrack.
The care and upkeep of national monument sites such as Aughnanure Castle in Oughterard, Galway at +353 91 82214 is organised by the OPW.
They are responsible for appointing Wildlife Foresters who ensure the safety of wild animals in their natural habitats. A wildlife officer can often be responsible for a number of districts. There is one wildlife officer for Galway, Mayo and Roscommon
