Aran Island Ferries was established in 1982 by Paddy and Sally O'Brien, providing a year round service to all three islands. It is a local company situated in the heart of the Connemara Gaeltacht, providing employment for 24 permanent staff and 97 part-time.
The original service was provided by one of the traditional Galway Hookers `An Tonaí` which has been part of the O’Brien family for the past 5 generations. Island Ferries Teo. now have a fast modern fleet of 6 vessels.
The ferry departs from Rossaveal, about 1 hour drive from Galway. There are several extra sailings a day during peak season. A coach service is available to shuttle people to/from Rossaveal.

Cois Cladaigh is a mixed voice chamber choir based in Galway and was founded in 1982. The choir has a formidable repertoire of contemporary choral music and also performs unaccompanied European music from the late 15th and early 16th centuries and also. The choir takes an active role in commissioning composers to write works for it.
The choir has regularly competed in the premiere Irish choral festival, the Cork International Choral Festival and took first prize in the premier national award on three occasions and also twice won first prize in the National Chamber Choir section of the Cork Festival in 1993 and in 1994. It also won first prize In the Church Music section on three occasions. Their most successful year was in 2006 when the choir brought 5 trophies back to Galway.
